HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE MYTHS OF BRAZIL!

yeah, yeah, I know! Brazilians don't celebrate halloween.
But I lived in California for three years of my childhood so I am untitled to some "trick or treat" fun.

Here we have (From left to right)

1) My OC Ricardo, aka, Brazil! (On the headless "horse") - Dressed up as MOTH*R F*CKIN' BATMAN!Ò.Ó
2) Mula sem-cabeça! (The headless "horse") -Dressed up as a Unicorn XD

By the way, the Mula sem-cabeça is a character in Brazilian folklore. In most tales, it is the ghost of a woman that has been cursed by God for her sins (often said to be as concubinate or fornication with a priest within of the a church) and condemned to turn into a fire-spewing headless mule, galloping through the countryside from Thursday's sundown to Friday's sunrise. The myth has several variations concerning the sin that turned the cursed woman into the monster: necrophagy, infanticide, sacrilege against the church, fornication, etc.

3) BETO!! My love, aka, The Boto - Dressed as a mermaid

As you may already know, or not, at night an Amazon river dolphin becomes a handsome young man who seduces girls, impregnates them, then returns to the river in the morning to become an Amazon river dolphin again. This dolphin shapeshifter is called an encantado. Legend also states that if a person makes eye contact with an Amazon river dolphin, that person will have nightmares for the rest of his/her life. Local legends also state that the dolphin is the guardian of the Amazonian manatee and that should one wish to find an Amazonian manatee one must first make peace with the Amazon river dolphin.

Beto is dressed like that because he wanted to get in Iara's face, but they ened up drunk as skunks LOL

4) Iara! - Dressed as the Encantado.

A figure from Brazilian mythology based on ancient Tupi and Guaraní mythology. Her name comes from Old Tupi yîara = y + îara (water + lord/lady) = lady of the lake (water queen). She is seen as either a water nymph, siren, or mermaid depending upon the context of the story told about her.

Iara was a beautiful young woman, sometimes described as having green hair and light skin, connected to a freshwater water body who would sit on a rock by the river combing her hair or dozing under the moon. When she felt a man around she would start to sing gently to lure him. Once under the spell of the Iara a man would leave anything to live with her underwater forever, which was not necessarily a bad thing, as she was pretty and would cater for all needs of her lover for the rest of his life. She feed on his love and when he tried to escape, she'd feed on his flesh MWAHAHAHAHA!

She dressed up as Beto to make fun of him, but they eneded up drunk and now everything's funny XD

5) waaaaay down back: Boitatá - The giant snake dressed asa sunflower.

It comes from the Old Tupi language and means "fiery serpent" (mboî tatá). It has great fiery eyes, by day almost blind, but by night, it sees everything. According to legend, Boi-tatá was a big serpent which survived a great deluge. To save itself, it entered a cave and rested in the darkness for centuries, so that its eyes grew. After it left the cave, it went through the fields looking for the bodies of animals to eat, but also sometimes attacked people and animals. It's not like a dragon but most like "Anaconda" the giant snake, that in native language is called "boa" or "mboi" or "mboa".

6) Caipora!

You know, CARACATAU!

Caipora is an entity of the Tupi-Guarani mythology in Brazil. It is represented as a dark-skinned, small Indian woman, chest naked with a very long black and red mane, smoking a cigar and very mischievous. Other depictions are as a stout hairy anthropomorphic being with the head of a fox. She protects women and children of the forest,its animals and plants.

It is known as a forest dweller, very vengeful of hunters who do not respect the rules of "fair-play" when hunting.

Dressed as Marylin Monroe, and the wind? Sh's controlling it XD

7) Curupira!

The Curupira or Curupura is a male supernatural being who guards the forest in Tupi mythology in Brazil.

He usually takes the form of a boy with (literally) flaming hair and green teeth. His most startling characteristic, however, is that his feet are turned to face backwards.

Its raison d'être is to protect the forest from the destructive habits of man. It happily tolerates those who hunt for food but is infuriated by those who hunt for the pleasure of it and will lay traps and confuse them so that they become eternally lost in the forest. His backward feet, for example, have the effect of confusing hunters who may try to follow his tracks.

Dressed as Elvis because there's this children's book were he dances just like the King and just can't imagine him different now 8'D

8) And last, but not least: Negrinho do pastoreiro!

He's story is very sad. He wasa slave,a good boy, kind, gentle, that had a very mean,cruel master. He guarded the master'shorses, and one of them got lost. The master threatend to kll him if didn't get him back. He prayed to the Virgin and the horse came back, but master still punished himwith 300 lashes and let his poor body on top of a anthill, where the ants started to bit him to death. The Virgin came and delivered him fromsuffering.

Since then he protects the children that are pain.
I just love him!
